This item searched the main factors which effect the refining effection and fibre characteristic in the high consistency refining by a series of expriment on the high pulping yield facility which we call it high consistency refiner. Through compositively analied and searched the refining effection of the refiner plate from some aspects, such as the plate pattern and bar, plate matiarial, refining pressure, effects on refining intensity and fibre structure by different refiner plate pattern and rotational speed, we found a new energy saving refiner plate without any pulp quality changing.Sience little attention about effect on fibre structure by refiner plate, this paper ditailedly expatianted the effects on the fibre structure with different refiner plate pattern and rotational speed, like fibre wall thickness, fibre longitudinal splite and fibre length. Two principally different refining processes were compared. The results indicate that pulp residence time and fibre structure can be controlled by changing refiner plate pattern. The result indicates that pulp residence time and fibre structure can be controlled by changing refiner plate pattern. Higher refining intensity by raised speed or more aggressive plate pattern gives more collapsible fibres with longitudinal splits in the fibre wall but even shorter fibres. Increasing thermal softening will preserve fibre length and at the same time obtain a lot of thin-walled fibres with split fibre walls. Significant energy savings are achievable using high intensity refiner plates.Mechanical model will be found and analysed quantitatively, in order to apply an academic thereunder for ulteriorly optimization designing of plate pattern and bar dimension, chosing of high consistency matiaral and producing of high intensity pulp. Additionally, this item will found an energy consumption model of high consistency refining on the base of refining theoretics and practice such as Specific Edge Load Theory (SEL),Specific Source Load Theory (SSL), refining energy consumption and refining efficiency. This item will implement the configuration optimization and designing by analyse and calculate the model to apply an academic thereunder of energy cutting. So, the foundation and analysing of the mechanical model and energy consumption model for high consistency has a significant guiding significance for empoldering a new low energy consumption and high consistency refiner.In this paper, a novel method of double closed loop refining control in a high consistency conical disc refiner is introduced. This method proposed for improving pulp quality at high production rate on conical disc refiner. The discharge consistency is controlled at a fixed optimum value by control of dilution water within the conical zone. With raising the pulp consistency in the inner region of the refining zone, residence time is increased and refining intensity decreased, while avoiding the plate plugging caused by excessive consistency in the outer region of the refining zone.
