Tris(8-Hydroxylquinoline) aluminium compounds are broadly applied in the eletroluminescene(EL) materials which is the hot-topic research in the flat-panel display fields. Compared with the liquid crystal display technique, It is advantageous as follows: lower consumption, active luminescence, higher Brightness and higher contrast. In recent twenty years, the research of eletroluminescent materials and equipments have made remarkable strides. Its main technical specifications have achieved or are approaching the requirement of the practical application.The emission spectrum of tris(8-Hydroxylquinoline) aluminium compounds were mediated by chemical modification. This approach has made important practical application value to enrich the application range of the eletroluminescene materials and optimize the eletroluminescene equipments. In these studies 5-hydroxylmethyl -8-quinoline was synthesized by chemical modification, also characterized by IR spectrum and H1NMR analysis. And further synthesized tris(8-Hydroxylquinoline) aluminium (1) and its derivatives: mixed compound (2), mixed compound (3) and tris(5-hydroxylmethyl-8-Hydroxylquinoline) aluminium (4), also characterized by IR spectrum and ultraviolet spectrum analysis, and analysis its luminescent properties. They provide new experiment base for the further study in the preparation of the eletroluminescent equipments.After analysised the emission spectrum of the compounds, all the max luminescent wavelengths are red shifted compared with tris(8-Hydroxylquinoline) aluminium. And the extent of the red shifts of the max wavelengths would be change as the amount of 5- hydroxylmethyl-8-Hydroxylquinoline is increased.In addition, A new potassium pyridine-2,3,5,6-tetracarborxylate zinc (II) compound has been synthesized, characterized by IR spectrum, ultraviolet spectrum analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallize in the monocline space group P2(1)/m. Through the participation of the potassium ion in the molecules, It frames a three dimensional structures of coordination complex. The metal ion in the coordinated patterns of the compounds is analysised. The complex potassium pyridine-2,3,5,6-tetracarborxylate zinc (II) shows photoluminescence properties.
