Owing to its merits of high-level efficiency, good surface quality, little cutting force and so on, high-speed cutting and machining technology is considered to be the advanced machining technology in the 21st century. Turning workpieces hold high proportion in machine and the technology of high speed power chuck is one of the most pivotal technologies to realize its high speed and precision cutting. The clamping reliability and structure security of high speed power chuck are important problems on affecting its working reliability. Referenced on operational principle of KEF250 high speed power chuck produced by Shanghai 2nd machine tool accessories, and based on the analysis of wedged angle and friction factor which are important factors of wedged power chuck clamping force, the article analyzes the design of structure, assembly, examination of reference of the high speed power chuck with three-dimensional software UG. Some important studies are done as follows:1. High speed power chuck force model of static state and high speed state are analyzed, the clamping force in static state and dynamic state are studied, and influence on clamping force made by centrifugal force of clamping claw and clamping compensation device are studied.2. Stress and strain characteristic of high speed power chuck are analyzed by Finite Element Analysis software ANSYS. The influence of dimension and material to the maximum stress and strain of chuck body are studied, and the possibility of making chuck body by high strength and light weight material is researched.3. The characteristic of contact force between the lever of clamping compensation device in high speed power chuck and chuck body is studied.Optimization design of lever which is an important part of clamping compensation device is studied.
