In this paper, the theories, models and computational methods embodied in the computational fluid dynamic software CFX5.5 were analyzed and compared. Using a reference and an industrial furnace, models and boundary conditions were investigated. Simulation accuracy and convergence stationary were analyzed, too. With CFX5.5 and the design data of trapezium furnace, processes of turbulent flow, fuel combustion and radiation heat transfer were simulated. Velocity fields, temperature fields and distribution of tube heat flux were obtained. The results of different degrees of slope were contrasted and analyzed. The results demonstrated that heat flux of every tube in trapezium furnace increased from up to down. Compared with box furnace, trapezium furnace enhanced radiation heat transfer. With the increasing of degrees of slope, average tube heat flux increased and the combustion chamber temperature decreased.With Visual Basic 6.0 and Monte Carlo method, the software of heat transfer calculation in trapezium furnace was developed. Simulation results were coincident with CFX5.5. Compared with CFX5.5, results of the software had lower average tube heat flux and higher combustion chamber temperature.Finally, new type trapezium furnace was simulated with CFX5.5 and self-developed software. The influence of upstanding section height and degrees of slope were contrasted and analyzed. The results demonstrated that compared with Huizhou trapezium furnace, new type trapezium furnace had more even distribution of tube heat flux. Higher upstanding section and lower degrees of slope enhanced radiation heat transfer.
