Centerless grinding has been widely used as a high efficiency and high-accuracy finishing process in manufacturing industries. Since the center of workpiece is not fixed in centerless grinding, so it refers to much more process parameters than general grinder and has more difficult in research on the roundness error, especially in analysing how to insure the roundness errors while the system has the vibration. Focus on the vibration characteristic analysis and simulation research on the centerless grinding, there is no very in-depth study in our country. So many manufactures depend on the experience and the experiments when having study on the vibration in centerless grinding. Refer to the practice of our country, based on the related technology, to have a detailed and comprehensive research on the vibration characteristics analysis will make a great sense. Of course, this method could make the roundness error meet the process requirements more effective, can solve the difficulty existing in the manufacting.The factors related to the roundness errors include geometric parameters,processing parameters and dynamic parameters in the centerless grinding. A comparative study on the theory and simulation is tried and then the results are analysised by the quasi-dynamic harmonic. In this paper, the mathematical model is first established by simplifying process system. The theoretical relative displacement between the workpiece and the ground surface is analysised and based on it, the methods on how to ensure the roundness error by modifying the geometric parameters and dynamic parameters in centerless grinding is proposed .For simulation study, the whole processing couldn't be simulated such as ADAMS directly. So, the geometry model of centerless grinding is established, and then the simulation relative displacement between workpiece and ground surface is obtained, which is consistent with the theoretical relative displacement. The establish of simulation model make the whole research on the system vibration of centerless grinding into a new stage, and the influence of grinding vibration on the rounding forming of workpiece could be analysised more economy,convenient and efficient.
