As a precision machining technique which can get high precision and low roughness, cylindrical centerless grinding has an important position in the field of mechanical manufacturing. The cylindrical centerless grinding simulation indicates a mapping of cylindrical centerless grinding process in the virtual environment. The cylindrical centerless grinding simulation system is an important part of virtual manufacturing. The simulation of centerless grinding processes could help the designer to identify the problems, and find a convenient method for optimal parameters in the processes of centerless grinding, then it will make enormous economic benefits.This paper first introduced the commonly used software development process, simulation system combining the features of the development process initially established a cylindrical centerless grinding simulation system development process. Then develop the objective function of the system according to the project requirements. Through a detailed analysis of the system goals, determine the cylindrical centerless grinding simulation system.Then the article focuses on the several key technologies used in simulation of the system.After analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of OpenGL 3D modeling,a method of using 3DS model in the simulation system is propounded. The paper makes a detail analysis of 3DS document format,reading and reproducing 3DS model in the simulation system .The article use OpenGL-related technology to achieve a detailed three-dimensional shape change process. Also analyzes the traditional method based on Boolean used in simulation of NC processing and brings forward a method based on OpenGL blending in 2D simuluation of centerless grinding processing. Compared with the traditional method this method is easier to carrying out and convenient for dynamic simuluation.After analysis the theoretical calculation method of the centrhigh, the paper proposed a method of the blade high calculation. At the same time, the method of computer programming in the time domain performance of the workpiece roundness of real-time changes in state and the grinding force of the output was carried out.In addition, the article also made some relevant analysis in the imbalance in workpieces.The imbalance of workpieces was divided into uneven axial, radial imbalance, radial and axial imbalance and then make a dynamic analysis through Matlab,it provided a useful referencea of the characteristics of centerless grinding.The running results of simulation system have shown that it has good real-time effectivity, interaction and visualization of 3D and 2D animation, and achieved the desired objectives.
