The reheating furnace is very important heating equipment and indispensable in steel rolling plan. It's very significative of economizing energy sources in the reheating furnace. The research about this problem should base on the study of complex thermal processes and flow in the furnace.In the paper, by employing CFD commercial software FLUENT, three-dimensional numerical simulation of complex thermal processes with flowing, radiation, and combustion in WISCO's NO.3 reheating furnace is carried out. A comprehensive mathematical model for simulating the reacting and heat transfer process in a reheating furnace is developed. In the simulation of the reacting and heat transfer process,the models include the k-εtwo-equation turbulence model for turbulent flow, the P-1 model for radiative heat transfer,the Thermal NO Model and Prompt NO Model for Modeling of NO formation,and the Species Transport gaseous combustion model for gaseous reaction. The governing equations are solved by the SIMPLER algorithm. Using the above models,very detailed results regarding the distribution of velocity,temperature,concentration of the different section are obtained. And the simulation results show a good agreement with the on-site testing data, which testifies the method of CFD numerical simulation. All these results are reasonable and provide scientific foundation for optimizing design, operation and control.
