Accumulating luminous plastic and fiber were made by using of rare earths SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ as luminary.It was produced in the way of injection molding and melting spinning.Its basic material was Polypropylene(PP).If this plastic and fiber absorbed any visible light only for 10 minutes,it could store up light energy in it,and shine for more than 10 hours in the dark.Moreover,it could be used infinitely.In addition,compared to other luminous material,it was innocuous,no radioactivity and safe for people's health.As a very important component,lanthanum aluminates' function was storing light and shining.This plastic and fiber could be widely used in aviation,navigation,defense industry,construction project,decoration,transportation,nighttime working,everyday life and entertainment costume,etc.With the development of plastic and fiber industry,the application of plastic and fiber extended rapidly.In order to develop new products and offer technology for customers and society,production engineering of luminous plastic and fiber was studied.Firstly,methods of luminescent plastic and fiber masterbatch production were studied.The luminous effect of plastic and fiber luminous materials can be improved by covering SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ powders with stearate,titanaate coupler and PE wax in the preparation of plastic and fiber masterbatch.Masterbatch used to prepare plastic plank and plastic fiber were prepared.5 wt%PE wax,11 wt%SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ powders,1.3 wt%titanate coupler and 1 wt%stearic acid was added as luminescent plastic additive.Secondly,a suitable plastic mold was successfully designed.Safety instruction luminescent PP plank mold was designed based on the needs.When flow equilibrium was taken into consideration to smooth runner during the design of plastic mold and corner,dead zone of the mold was decreased obviously.Then the velocity of melting PP on every section was steady.On the other hand,rib for luminous plastic plank was designed to improve the planeness.Thirdly,preparation method of luminescent plastic was investigated. The luminescent plastic had special performance and SrAl2O4:Eu2+,Dy3+ powders unable to resist high temperature,so the luminescent PP planks with high luminescent intensity were produced by direct melting injection.The warping,luminescence degree and grey surface appearance of the product can be obviously improved by adding 10 wt%PP with higher melt index.3.6 MPa injection pressure and 180℃injection temperature was proved to be the most suitable condition.At last,luminescent fiber was successfully prepared.Usage of luminescent particle size in PP fiber was investigated,and luminescent PP fiber was also produced.It had been proved that available condition was:luminescent particle was added at 2 wt%,fiber spinning speed was 900 m/min,fiber spinning pressure was 8 MPa,and metering pump revolution speed was 15rpm.Raw luminescent fiber materials were processed by spinning machine and natural cooled.Primary luminescent PP fiber was stretched at 120~130℃,the stretch ratio is 4. Color masterbatch Luminescent PP fiber was used to improve the appearance.While green and yellow color masterbatch were used at 0.8 wt%,good appearance was obtained.
