Unpleasant light of fabric affects and destroys appearance of apparel in more degree. In garment manufacturing, unpleasant light of fabric increases the percent defective of product and decreases production efficiency.There are few studies about unpleasant light of fabric domestic and abroad and especially no systematical researches. The paper studies the factors affecting the unpleasant light for worsted wool fabric in ironing process, discusses the evaluating method for unpleasant light and tries to find a convenient method to evaluate it. Meanwhile it systemically analyzes the reasons and factors affecting the unpleasant light in ironing process. Tests prove the main reasons of raising unpleasant light of fabric are changes of the structural phase of fabric, the changes of fiber cross section and polyester fiber partial melting. By simulating technological parameters, the degrees of each parameters affection are as follows: ironing temperature, time, pressure, humidity and ironing times. In the same condition, if fiber content and structure of fabric are different, the unpleasant light presenting degree is different. Polyester fabric tends to produce more unpleasant light than pure wool fabric.By this study, it is approved that the mechanism of the unpleasant light of fabric is very complex. It is very difficult to represent the degree of the unpleasant light of fabric subjectively. By controlling technological parameters, we can decrease the phenomenon of the unpleasant light of fabric.
