In this work, five compounds of three structural types monomers were synthesized, two isothiazoles, one hydantoin and two quaternary ammoniums. Isothiazoles antibacterial monomers were synthesized through ammonolysis, cyclization and allylation reaction with 3-mercaptopropionate as the starting material in good yield. Hydantoin was synthesized by reacting allyl bromide with N,N-dimethylhydantoin. Two quaternary ammonium compounds were synthesized by reacting allyl bromide with pyridine and triethylamine respectively. All the target molecules and key intermediates were characterized with EI-MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, ESI-MS, IR spectra and elemental analysis. It's the base for the future research of anti-bacterial organic polymer. Some tests on anti-bacterial properties of these five compounds were carried on. The anti-bacterial results revealed that N-allylisothiazolone was dissoluble compound with obvious anti-bacterial potency while in the concentration of 0.001g/ml(7.092mmol/L). 3-allyloxyisothiaz -ole, 3-allyl-5,5-dimethylhydantoin, N-allyl pyridine bromide and allyl triethyl ammonium bromide were non-dissoluble anti-bacterial compounds, so did not emerge inhibition zone. The germicidal test revealed that the two isothiazoles compounds possessed good germicidal property while the germicidal property of 3-allyl-5,5-dimethylhydantoin and two qauaternary ammonium compounds were unremarkable.
