Study On Molecular Sieve/PP Blend Spinning Fiber

The molecular sieves were surface-treated by coupling agent, then blend and melt spinning with PP chip at different ratios. Structures and properties of the blend spinning PP fibers were analyzed, the results showed that when the molecular sieves content in fiber was 1wt.%, the blend spinning PP fiber had good spinnability, its breaking strength was increased by 31.85%, the dye up-take and moisture content of the molecular sieve/PP blend spinning fiber was also improved. As compared with pure PP fiber, the crystallization and orientation degree of the molecular sieve(1wt.%)/PP blend spinning fiber decreased, while the crystal size was enlarged. So the dyeing behavior and moisture absorption property were enhanced. The molecular sieves and coupling agent have chemical reaction, which made the surface-treated molecular sieves and PP in fiber have better combinations; this may be the main reason for the enhancement in mechanical property of the molecular sieve(about 1wt.%)/PP blended spinning fiber.The molecular sieves have the advantages of high external surface area, large mesopore volume, and fast diffusive rate, so it has great adsorbability. When it contained dye and was blended in PP chip before spinning, we got color bright PP fiber. Further more we found the molecular sieves contained photochromism dye made the fibers have photochromism property. This fiber can be made easily and show good photochromism performance, so it can be widely used in many fields.
