Experimental Miniature High Shear Granulator model has been improved andoptimized according to the function request of wet granulation. To make it morereasonable, the original mechanic structure has been modified under theoretical studyand experiments. Calefaction scheme has been contrived for extending the realm ofapplication. The key control and the interface between human and computer functionhave been added to improve the level of automation and intelligence. According tolarge sums of experiments, the performance of the miniature high shear granulator hasbeen studied and many valuable data of wet granulator has been obtained at the sametime. Besides, THz timedomainspectroscopy has been applied in this work to inspect the transmitted intensity of granules of different dimension, which finds a new wayfor the further research. The work largely reduces the distance between experimentalMiniature High Shear Granulator model and practical application, and filled up thevacancy of domestic miniature granulator in laboratory aspect. It is a greatcombination of measuring and controlling engineering and Chemical engineering.The paper's content includes five aspects as follows:1. Optimization of the mechanic structure: according to theoretical study andexperiments, key parameters of the granulator have been modified. A new fixationmethod has been designed to replace the original inconvenient way and the vesselmaterial is changed.2. Extending the applied field: choosing plating method to heat up the vessel. Thecalefaction scheme has been contrived under theoretical reckon and circuit design.3. Optimization of the control circuit: The key control function, which includes theset and display of the motor speed, has been achieved in this work. The originalcircuit has been modified.4. Realization of the USART communication: The interface between human andcomputer function have been compiled in Labview, which make it impossible to setthe speed of the two motors, display the condition and record the data in the workingprocess. Thus, improve the level of automation and intelligence.5. According to large sums of complex experiments and data analyses, theperformance of the miniature high shear granulator has been studied and many valuable data of wet granulator has been obtained at the same time.
