Synthesis, Crystal Structures And Photoluminescent Properties Of Imidazolate-containing Complexes

The complexes of imidazole and its derivatives with transition-metal ions have gained considerable attention for a long time,and some of them can be used potentially to optics, magnetic,catalysis. In order to synthesize and research the complexes of transition-metal ions with imidazoles,the complexes of 1,4-bis(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzene(bib) , 2,6-bis(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (bip) and pyredine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (H2PDC) have been synthesized and characterized,and their crystal structures were determined by X-ray analysis. The thesis is composed of the following three sections:Part I. 1,4-bis(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzene(bib)was synthesized from terephthalic acid , 2,6-bis(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine(bip) and 2,6-pyridine- dicarbonitrile have been synthesized from pyredine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid ,and they were determined by IR.Part II. The complexes of [(H2N-C6H4-SO3H)2·bib]·2H2O,[Mn(bip)Cl2],[Cu(PDC) (H2O)2]2 have been prepared,and their crystal structures were determined by X-ray analysis. The complex [(H2N-C6H4-SO3H)2·bib]·2H2O crystal is orthorhombic , space group is Pbca. The complex [Mn(bip)Cl2] crystal is Monoclinic , space group is P2(1)/n. The complex [Cu(PDC) (H2O)2]2(H2PDC = Pyredine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) crystal is Triclinic , space group is P-1.Part III. The fluorescence of complex [(H2N-C6H4-SO3H)2·bib]·2H2O and ligand 1,4-bis(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole-2-)benzene had been tested。The result indicated that the fluorescence of complex [(H2N-C6H4-SO3H)2·bib]·2H2O is stronger than the ligand 1,4-bis(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole-2-)benzene .
