The Research And Development Of CAD Software System Specified For Casting Numerical Simulation

The technology of numerical simulation of casting is a combining product of computing science and foundry. It brings new vitality to the traditional casting industry. Currently, the technology has been widely used in foundry section. Several numerical simulation softwares have been developed, such as ProCAST, MAGMA and InteCAST.Recently, with the wide application of the casting numerical simulation technology, people have realized the dependence of the CAE software for CAD software. So some CAE companies have developed their own CAD software system which based their CAE software system, and achieved a lot. Because the InteCAST has good development and competition, therefore, a specialty CAD software system for the InteCAST will has important practical significance.In this paper, the CAD software system based on the InteCAST has been developed with OpenGL technology. This thesis studies the basic 3D solid modeling which based on the STL data structure characteristics, and investigates the coordinate collect technology of the three-dimensional space. Meanwhile, combining the interactive technology and thinking, the various interactive features have been researched and developed.Firstly, the software system function and interface design are analyzed. Based on OpenGL technology, this paper achieves a good scene rendering and basic operation. In addition, in light of the STL file format of the design characteristics implement its own data interface.Secondly, based on the triangle grid algorithm, STL entities Boolean operation algorithm, and the picking up characteristics of the OpenGL, this paper devises the coordinate collect technology of the three-dimensional space, and develops the three-dimensional modeling design module.Finally, based on the interactive technology and thinking, many interactive operating functions are designed. Such as mouse drag technology, 3D entities dynamic display, and STL entities section dynamic display. According to the feature of STL data structure, the precise measurement of the basic features of the geometric characteristics, and accurate calculations of the surface area and volume are also achieved.Practical application shows that this software system can be useful for the casting process design and the interactive operation. Therefore, the research and development of CAD software system specified for casting numerical simulation makes the InteCAST greatly reduces the dependence of the professional CAD. Meanwhile, it brings the further development and improvement of the InteCAST software system.
