With the development of computer and advanced manufacturing technologydeveloped, the technology of virtual manufacturing emerges as the times require. Thetechnology of numerical simulation regarded as an important part of virtualmanufacturing is widely used. The geometric simulation is the key of NC simulation,in which the problems of cutting directly reflected in the processing. Geometricsimulation can not only lay the foundation for the physical simulation, also send backimportant role in ensuring parts processing quality and improving productionefficiency. The study of NC milling machining geometry simulation has importanttheoretical and realistic significance.The research on NC geometric simulation has been conducted, and Open GLcomplex with3D modeling proposed method has been introduced to solve theproblem that the complex model Open GL is difficult to be established.The static modeling is built based on UG software platform. Through the secondarydevelopment of UG software technology, the geometry model library is creased byusing of the program design method. And access database is applied to realize themanagement of geometric model library and call. The tool contour model isconstructed by using parameter method and tool scanning body is established byimproving stripping cutting. High real-time update of workpiece geometry is realizedthrough between the blank and cutting tool scanning body Boolean differencearithmetic. The simulation graphics is updated fast by fast blanking algorithmproposed. Real-time animation display is realized by using local refresh OpenGLtechnology. And the cutting tool and the interference between work piece andmachine tool collision are detected by applying improved bounding box collisioninterference detection algorithm. NC milling simulation system is developed based on VC++6.0development platform which combine with database calls.The problems of the slower simulation speed and the more terrible displayeffect are solved through the study of geometry simulation key technology. Inaddition, it plays a certain guiding role for the actual processing. Eventually thedefect rate of the products is reduced and the production cycle is shortened. Thepurposes of improving production efficiency and market competitiveness of productsare realized.
