Porous Metal-Bonded Diamond Wheel (PMBDW) is a new metal-bonded diamond wheel. Because of many pores in the bond, compared with the traditional metal-bonded diamond wheel, PMBDW has several advantages, following as: easy to be dressed and trued, low grinding temperature and force, good tolerance capacity. However it is discovered that the diamond retention is low and the abrasive is easy to pull out because of the porosity. The new PMBDW is put forward to improve the bond strength between the metal bond and diamond by vacuum sintering method, and it can be used in broader grinding fields. In this paper, the main researches are as follows:1. The PMBDW is fabricated based on the figuration powder sintering method with the raw materials of Ni-Cr filler, WC powder, pore producer and diamond. The bonding interface between bond and diamond occurred chemical metallurgy bonding.2. The effects of the different proportion of raw material, sinter temperature and time on the pore rate and bend strength are studied systematically.3. The fracture surface of segment and the bonding interface between bond and diamond are investigated by SEM to explore the pore's size, shape, distribution and the substance in the bonding interface.4. Through Al2O3 ceramics grinding experiment with the PMBDW, the surface roughness under different grinding parameters is measured, and the abrasion topography of the wheel is observed.
