The emergence of embedded Linux for embedded operating system offers a very attractive option. Fieldbus Control System (FCS) is a breakthrough in the closure of closed-specific solutions based on agreement-specific networks of Distributed Control System (DCS), now it becomes an open and standardized solution. In the field of temperature control, usually is single-chip direct control or partial use of distributed control system, this paper is the introduction of embedded Linux operating system on the basis of the characteristics of fieldbus technology, the design has a friendly Human Machine Interface. The system has a standard analog and digital signal input and output interfaces, with LCD displayer, touch-screen interactive, multi-level communications and real-time temperature control and other functions.The paper presents a design for the temperature control system of hot roll that uses Modbus as the communication protocol via the RS-485 network in embedded Linux environment. The supervisor computer connects with subordinate machine which direct control a group of hot rolls.By controlling the designed registers of subordinate machine, the supervisor computer manipulates many groups of hot rolls indirectly. In addition, the implementation of Modbus RTU message frame in system is shown in the paper, and the User Interface is designed with Qt.
