Exploration Of Balenciaga's Costume Design Style

The fashion design style is the vitals of costume brands. Every successful costume brand has its obvious style, which is the distinct characteristics different from other brand, because the structural technique is the ladder of actualizing costume modeling. Thereby, study on the brand and works of the masters from the angle of structure technique will help us to open out their connotation and modeling style.The research of the subject takes the works of Balenciaga who was the international fashion designer as the study object, and his own costume style was analyzed mainly from the aspect of background, costume style and the classic structure design of the master's times. Also, the structural modeling which was mostly stood for the style of Balenciaga's works was studied further. The study on classic works of Balenciaga was mostly by means of referring to large numbers of literature data, and the characteristic of the classic costume works was generalized. Moreover, the works which had the classic characteristic were chosen for qualitative analysis. By means of three-dimensional cutting, we simulated and trial manufactured the structural shape of the works according with the original pattern to the greatest extent, then we attempted to change the design on the basis of the pattern. In the end of the paper the problems of pattern style and pattern designer existed in domestic clothing enterprises was analyzed, and the personal research experience was combined with the success of Ghesquiere who is the incumbent designer of Balenciaga, further more, some suggestions were summarized to solve the problems as a attempt.
