| With the rise of the Ottoman Empire,Ottoman art flowered magnificently in the 16 th century.The Ottomans continued the Islamic tradition of using plant-based decoration that was only vaguely connected with reality. One type of spiralling scrollwork which is set with enormous composite flowers,smaller rosettes and long,serrated ‘saz’ leaves was called ‘saz’ style and became a most popular Ottoman decorative feature after the 1540’s. Both Ottoman decorative styles like ‘Cintamani’ and ‘garden flowers’ were often used in combination,or mixed with saz style. They were applied to imperial textiles,ceramics and so on.The expression of the ‘saz’ style and its kinds of structures such as wavy sterm, spirality,vault played a beautiful melody. It would pour into great deal of fresh blood in creative design of modern home textiles if Ottoman cultural and ‘saz’ style art are inherited and applied in its. However,complex patterns structures of ‘saz’ style have not been applied directly and unfashionable breath have not been accepted distinctively in modern home textiles.So we have a discussion about the innovation which still keep suitable design of ‘saz’ style and improve the style in perfect way to compromise the the original patterns and stylish patterns.To have a different perspective from William Morris’ works which had been influenced deeply by ‘saz’ style in his wallpapers design and textiles design in the 19 th century. By contrast,we will get a view on live ‘saz’ style in modern home textiles. My research method are based on the trend of modern home textiles,observing its styles, patterns,colors,materials,which have provided a better idea for ‘saz’ style.‘Saz’ style is applied not only in modern home textile design, will also is explored as a decorative subject of technique of“textiles furniture”into the space. It is worthing doing and quite interesting to recognize the art potential of ‘saz’ style as a trend of modern home textiles in the future. |
