The theory of modularized platform design and adaptable design are introduced into the large gear machine tool products, the theory and method of modularization are applied in the design of gear milling machine .The design process of modular product platform of gear milling machine is discussed in detail .The modular partition of product family design and the multilevel optimization of gear milling machine are performed based on the function analysis, module partition and the construction of product family .The main contexts are as following:1) The customization of gear milling machine and the research status of the design technology are summarized; the research status of the basic concepts and related technology of the modular design and adaptable design are expounded and the research objective, studying contents and significance are presented2) The construction principle of the gear milling machine modular product platform and the customization of gear milling machine is studied.
