There are many methods used removing ammonia from reclaimed water, such as blow-off method, gas stripping, break point chlorination, chemical precipitateon method,ion–exchange, biological method, electrodialysis, RO Method. however, With the growing water pollution on the environment and human safety requirements increasing, how to efficiently and effectively removing the ammonia in the water is still need to study the important subject.This paper using the specific kaolin (KAD) in Longyan of Fujian province as raw materials, prepared the materials of ammonia ions to the specific ion-exchange by the methods of the extrusion-spheronization method, calcined modified and alkali modified method, and modification of ammonia ion exchange performance test results showed that: modified temperature is the most affected of the ammonia ion-exchange material properties, the sodium hydroxide concentration is the second place and modified time is factor. The Institute of ammonia in the high-performance ion exchange saturation capacity was about 43 mg/g , far higher than before the modification of the ammonia KAD ion-exchange capacity.On the based of the modification studied the Selectivity and the of the modified materials. The results showed that: modified ion exchange materials on the calcium and magnesium ions ion-selective more than the ammonia ion, in the industrial application of pre - Removal of the calcium and magnesium ions,avoided the impact of the ammonia removing capacity. the best regeneration process of High-performance materials ammonia ion- exchange at room temperature, pH of 4-6, renewable for modified particle size of the volume of 3-4 times ,the rate of regeneration in more than 85 percent. The static removing ammonia showed that: high-performance ion exchange materials can be decreased to below 5 mg / L of the reclaimed water of ammonia concentration, meted the target of ammonia with the requirements of indicators.
