Spunlace process on stainless steel fiber(SS fiber)non-woven fabric is studied.This process belongs to flexible processing compared with the needle processing technology. The water is used in this process,because liquid's cohesion is less than solid,SS fiber will not be affected in the process and avoids the fracture.SS fiber's performances are discussed on length,fineness,tensile breaking strength and initial modulus.Compared with polyester fiber(PES),SS fiber are higher both in breaking strength and initial modulus.SS fibers are made into a web by using Rando air-laid machine,three kinds webs which have different surface density are obtained.Then we know:the average diameter of pore is decreased,the largest diameter of pore and the porosity are increased with the webs' surface density raising.Spunlace process is used to strengthen the SS fiber webs.Spunlace pressure,speed of conveyor belt,the number of passes through the machine,are discussed as parameters which effect performance.The results show:size stability and average pore diameter of SS fiber non-woven fabrics are reduced firstly then increased with increasing of spunlace pressure.Tensile breaking strength is increased firstly and then decreased;when increasing conveyor belt speed,tensile breaking strength is reduced,and the average diameter of pore is increased;when increasing the number of passes through the machine,tensile breaking strength get higher and the average diameter of pore is reduced firstly,but continues increasing the number of passes,the changes are become smaller.The three parameters of spunlace process all show influence on porosity.The parameters of spunlace pressure and the number of passes through the machine have obvious critical values,and the critical values are related with the surface density of webs. Spunlace pressure,speed of conveyor belt and number of passes through the machine are used as factors to design an orthogonal experimental,the tensile breaking strength and the average diameter of pore are used as reference,then get the optimization process.The parameters are:the spunlace pressure is 120bar,the speed of conveyor belt is 10m/min, and 4 passes through the machine.About strengthening SS fiber webs,spunlace process has advantage in technology and production speed compared with anaerobic sintering,it can save energy.Besides,we find that SS fiber webs has been spread(the size of SS fiber non-woven fabric is increased)in low pressure,this can be used to achieve the cycle of the product,reduce energy consumption and protect environmental.
