A series of coordination complexes have been synthesized using the nitrogenconta- ining neutral ligands, such as imidazole, 2-(pyridin-2-yl)pyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline and 1H-benzo[d]imidazole, with different salts and also six crystal structures of them were obtained. Four compounds were anion water clusters coordination complexes and they were [CuCl(phen)2][(OH)(H2O)6] (2a), [NiCl(phen)2][(OH)(H2O)5.5] (2b), [C48H65Cu4N8O40P8] (4a), [C96H98Cu4N16O46P10] (4b), respectively. Two compounds are synthesized by teflon-lined autoclave under autogeneous pressure and they were [(phen)2CuII2Cl10CuI6] (3a), [C48H34Cl6Cu4N8O2] (3b), (C12N2H8=1, 10-phenanth- roline). Compounds (2a), (2b), (3a), (3b), (4a) and (4b) are reported firstly and the water cluster structures are studied for the first time.The water molecules in crystals were studied by Mercury and Diamond soft-wares. The datas shown that the guest water formed various conformations which illuminat- ed that single bond, double bond and three bond were formed between oxygen and oxygen atoms like carbon atom. The bound water in the crystal host [MCl(phen)2]+ (M=Cu, Ni) can form discrete [(OH)(H2O)3.5-4]n- anion water cluster structure. The present aggregate mode, T9(3)7(3) for (2a) and T8(3)7(3) for (2b), has been first reported experimentally. The discrete [MCl(phen)2]+ cores aggregate throughπ-πand other supramolecular interactions to give stable 2D framework structure. Compound (2a) and (2b) represent a rare example of supramolecular polymer which networks are connected byπ-πinteractions with open channels that form/collapse reversibly upon hydration/dehydration. They could be used as a desiccant that adsorbs water molecule- s very selectively.We have synthesized a mixed-valence CuICuII clusters 1D nano-size tape polymer. The drum-gong-cymbals-like pattern has been first found in this structure. The complex [(phen)2CuII2Cl10CuI6] (3a) forms the most compact stacking mode in the crystal lattice.The magnetic properties of compounds (3a), (3b), (4a) and (4b) were investigated carefully. At very low temperature, the complexes exhibit weak ferromag netic coupling with spin canting antiferromagnetic interaction. The thermal gravity (TG) datas indicate that these complexes have better thermal stability.
