In this paper a polymerizable surfmer was synthesized with 2,4-tolyene di-iso-cyanate(2,4-TDI),polyethylene glycols 1000(PEG1000)and allyl alcohol. The final product was characterized by FTIR.Effect of reaction temperature, reaction time was discussed. The result showed that in the first phase the optimized reaction time was 3 hours and the optimized reaction temperature was 65-70℃;and in the second phase the optimized reaction time was 6 hours and the optimized reaction temperature was 55-60℃.The properties of the polymerizable surfmer such as conductance, surface tension,CMC,performance of emulsion were tested.A surfactant-free emulsion was synthesized using the polymerizable surfmer. The influences of emulsion polymerizing process including the amount of acryl ate monomers, polymerization temperature, polymerization time initiators, buffering agents, and agitating speed were discussed. The room temperature cross-linking monomer AAEM was added to the emulsion polymerization and the effect of AAEM on the performance of printing was discussed. The result showed that the optimized polymerization temperature was 80-83℃;the optimized polymerization time was 2.5-3h; the amount of initiator was 0.3%and the amount of compound surfmer was 3.5%.The modified surfactant-free emulsion was used as the adhesive for pigment printing. The optimized printing technique was confirmed and the properties of the adhesives were compared with several regular adhesives. The result showed that compared with regular adhesives, the acrylate surfactant-free emulsion had better dry and wet abrasion fastness and better washing fastness;and high temperature baking is unnecessary during pigment printing process. The result indicated that the synthesized adhesive was an environmental-friendly adhesive which could also save energy.
