Interpenetrating polymer networkes(IPN) is a new method to prepare the polymer blends.Extensive academic and industrial research and industrial researches have become interested in IPNs.In nowadays,IPNs techonology has widely applied in engineering and functional polymer materials. The white ball D101 for industrial use was used as the first network in this experiment. The mixed solution of divinyl benzene(DVB),toluene(TOL),and 1.0% benzoyl peroxide(BPO) was used as the second neteork.Full swelling the white ball D101 with the mixed solution,Leaching clean,The mixed solution within the first network has been copolymerization'by conventional suspension polymerization method and porous divinylbenzene(DVB)/ styrene(St)Interpenetratingpolymer networkes (St/DVB IPN) has been prepared. We measure pore structure parameters with the nitrogen adsorption resin. The experimental results show that:1.The specific surface area of IPN13~16 samples is much higher than IPN1~4.the impact of the most important is the quantity of DVB in the second network..In the cases that has the same other conditions,in the second network the greater the amount of DVB is,the greater the specific surface area of the specimen of IPN.When IPN sample is larger about the cross-linking degree of the second network, the specific surface area is also larger.2.On the condition that the cross-linking degree of the second network and Monomer / TOL are invariable. The specific surface area of IPN sample gradually decreases with the absorption of the first network reducing. 3.When the absorption of the first network and the monomer / TOL are invariable, IPN pore volume gradually become larger with the cross-linking degree of the second network. The dynamic adsorption properties for phenol were determined by chemical methods. The experimental results show:1.When TOL/monomer =2/1 and saturated inter-penetration,with the growth of cross linking degree of the second network the number of phenol adsorption of IPN sample have a significant growth trend. However,at the state of non-saturated inter-penetration,the influence of changes of cross linking degree of the second network for phenol adsorption of IPN sample is no significant.Besides, when TOL/monomer=4/1 and saturated inter-penetration,there is no similar phenomenon of phenol adsorption of IPN sample. It shows that cross lingking degree of the second network is not the only factor that cause the changes of phenol adsorption of IPN sample,at the same time, the factors of swelling and absorption of the first network should be considered.2.When the cross lingking degree of the second network and TOL/monomer =4/1 are fixed, with the increasing of absorption of the first network. The number of phenol adsorption of IPN sample reduces first, and next to increase. When the cross lingking degree of the second network and TOL/monomer =2/1,with the increasing of absorption of the first network the number of phenol adsorption of IPN sample is gradually increasing.
