In this paper, the biomineralization of sulphate-reducing bacteria was studied, the morphology, structure and composition of the products were also researched, and mechanism of biomineralization were proposed; With a preliminary understanding of biomineralization, a series of experiments were carried out, in order to prove that treating acid mine drainage in tailings impoundment is feasible, to study the effect of operation mode and the resume of sulfate-reducing capacity after long-running; The costs of three methods of acid mine drainage treatment were calculated. Results demonstrated: The sulfate-reducing bacteria can reduce sulfate to sulfide under certain conditions, and form metal sulfide of nano scale; the SRB have the ability of accmulating SRB low concentration of sulfate in solution to SRB cells, through sulfate reduction in cells, the formation of sulphide mineralization in solution to complete biomineralization; the process of adding straw and sludge in simulated tailings impoundment to treat acid mine drainage works well, and indicates good technical feasibility; placing straw and sludge in different positions of the tailings impoundment is all effective in treating AMD,different filling ways can use to deal with tailings impoundment of diverse situations; after long-running,the system was lack of carbon source and the ability of reducing sulphate was depressed owing to the decreasing soluble components of straw, but the sulfate-reducing capacity can be resumed by adding some straw; the cost of treating AMD in tailings impoundment is low and suitable for developing countries.
