The Finite Element Analysis(FEA) and virtual prototyping theory are becoming more and more popular in the design of modern machine tools.Supported by the cooperative project between Jiangsu Taixing Chenguang High-Tech Development Co.Ltd and Lanzhou Fangda Carbon Co.Ltd-"Carbon Block by Aluminum Electrolysis Automatic Production Line",using the finite element methods and optimization theory,the paper is focused on dynamic analysis and structural optimization of a new large carbon block slab miller.The major research contents and contributions were as follows:1.By the finite element software,the dynamic characteristics of the whole machine tool was analyzed.In conclusion,the milling heads and the machine tool bed of the milling machine have important impact on the dynamic characteristics of the whole machine tool.2.The dynamic characteristics of key parts of the milling machine have been analyzed,and the weak parts of the device were found.In further, with the combination of finite element method and optimization design theory,the optimum design for machine box are used for reducing the structrue's weight,in order to made them keep the good dynamic characteristics.In conclusion,the dynamic characteristics of the key parts of the milling machine were improved.3.Based on analyzing dynamic characteristics of the machine tool bed, with the topology optimization method to optimize the layout of reinforcing plate of machine tool bed to enhance the natural frequency of the machine tool.As a result,the dynamic characteristics of the whole machine tool was improved.4.Analyzed the kinematics characteristics of the transmission system and exercise status of the spindles.The conclusion proved the stability of the transmission system,also the reliability of results about optimization was proved.The research results enrich design theories of machining equipment for carbon block,improved the ability of research on machining equipment for carbon block,narrow the study gap on large machining equipment for carbon block between China and developed countries,and provide powerful technical supports on manufacturing of high-quality carbon block.
