Plane grinders are widely used in machining precision and ultra-precision parts for its high precision, compact structure, stable and reliable, good generality. With the rapid development of processing technology, machine tool gradually trend to high speed, high efficiency, high precision and automation, the proportion of grinding in machining share and the dynamic performance requirements for machine tools are becoming more strict. At present, the design of the key parts of the machine tool is a generic foreign product or by adopting the analogy method with traditional experience design, make the designed structure is not reasonable, the static and dynamic characteristics not guaranteed, affect the machining accuracies and performance requirements of machine tools. So it is important to analyze the dynamic performance of machine tool, and improve the machine tool according to the results of the analysis, to make the designed machine tool meet the desired performance requirements.Taking NC horizontal spindle and rectangular table plane grinder as the research object, using the finite element analysis and structure topology optimization and the method of modal test, make modal analysis and topology optimization design for the machine tool.The main research content is as follows:1. The three-dimensional model of the whole machine is established, including the bed, table, column, drag plate, grinding head and other parts of body, then simplified appropriately, and imported into the finite element analysis software. The characteristics of the main constraints for machine tool and combining with the surface parameters are analyzed, the finite element analysis model of the whole machine which taken the property of integration into account is established.2. The modal analysis of the machine tool are simulated by finite element software, the first twelve modal frequency and vibration model of the machine are summed up, the result of the dynamic characteristics of the machine tool are analyzed. The dynamic characteristics of machine tool are tested by experimental modal analysis method, the correctness of the finite element modal analysis is verified according to the test results. By combined with the finite element modal analysis results and the experimental data, the vibration weak links of the machine tool is identified.3. By the method of topology optimization, make topology optimization design for the column under the Opti Struct, which is the module of Hyper Works, and design a new structure model based on the analysis. Contrast the static and dynamic characteristics of the column and the dynamic characteristics of machine tool before and after the optimization of the column, the contrast results showed that the pillar its static and dynamic characteristics were improved after optimization, dynamic characteristics of machine tool machine is also improved.
