The PCB NC drilling machine is key equipment in the PCB's processing. High accuracy PCB NC drilling machine can ensure the PCB's quality and performance.In this paper the current status of PCB NC drilling machine is introduced. The SIMOTION D motion control unit is suggested to be the main controlling encore and the prototype PCB NC drilling machine is designed to aim the following functions: high process efficiency; high relocating accuracy and high positioning accuracy; automatic cutter exchanging and manual cutter exchanging ablitity; the broken drill detection and dimention test ability. In order to realize above functions, the mechanical hand,diffraction grating ruler,breaken drilling examination system,NCPCB and air bearing spindle are selected.The programming principle based on the SIMOTION D system and the real-time operating system are described in this paper in detail. The system software are divided into different parts which are operated by the real-time system. Several engineering problems are resolved in the paper.It has been verified by functions testing and parameters monitoring that the prototype PCB NC drilling machine is successful and the SIMOTION system can reach the design functions and requirements.The PCB NC machine has good stability and reliability and may put into use in future.
