This paper focus on studying cold upsetting in the production process of steel ball, that is the most important processes. By the main research tools of nonlinear Finite Element Method, Combined the method of experimental design and data processing, Researched the deficiency of cold upsetting technology and proposing a new cold upsetting process. It optimize the existing ball blanks and research other two ball blanks, obtaining reasonable parameters of the ball blanks.Firstly, this paper research the merits and demerits of open-and closed two knife-cut and propound a new knife-cut. Comparison of three types of knife-cut by the Finite Element Simulation Analysis, which provide a assistance to design a machine.Secondly, to the problem of production, such as burr or lean, the ball do not have high quality for once compression forming. In consideration of these reasons, It provide a mechanism of twist angle, that can optimize the face shape, reform the distribution of stress and stain. Finally, the ball blank have high quality.Thirdly, the paper build the deformation model of the ball cold upsetting and simplify the cold upsetting process to three steps: such as an symmetric extrusion, an symmetric upsetting and the last step of closed-die forging. Comparison to traditional force model .This model can obtain the force of different zone and two-pole. The model coincide with the simulation. Meanwhile, The paper set orthogonal test, simulate the different test, proposing the evaluation of roundness, the fore of cold upsetting and so on. Getting the right parameters of the ball blanks, Base on the spherical ball blanks, other two blanks were researched. They are the blanks of cone and ellipse, it research them and got right parameters.At last, the paper analyze the feature of different ball blanks with effective stress and strain , damage, net flow and so on.Overall,the paper have a deep research in ball cold upsetting ,propose some new methods with reference significance.
