According to the basic principle of metal plastic forming, using modern simulation technology of finite element combined with experiments is carried out, cold forging steel ball billet as the object is studied, based on the large dynamic finite element analysis software DEFORM. Through the establishment of a simplified physical model, the forming process of steel ball billet cold forging in the die cavity is simulated, the rule of metal flow in the cavity lane is obtained.According to the feature of steel ball billet cold forging die, in the case ofφ7.938mm,φ12.7mm,φ19.75mm three specification steel ball billet, the forming process of three specification steel ball billet in the four groups die of cone angle for 45°,50°,55°,60°re simulated. According to the actual needs of production of steel ball billet, four aspects are analyzed in plumpness,zone width,die force,roundness,the best of the cone angle of the four models is obtained.According to the range of compression ratio, the forming process of steel ball billet is simulated in the same die for several raw materials of same volume. Three aspects are analyzed in billet shape,die force,stress effective,The best diameter of raw materials is determined, and then the range of compression ratio is obtained.In the case ofφ19.75mm steel ball billet, not visible of actual production for the stress effective of the ball billet and the stress of the die and the process of defect forming are simulated and analyzed. Help engineers solve the problem arising in production. According to the simulation result design the technology parameters and die parameters of steel ball billet.The technology parameters and die parameters of steel ball billet are verified by the steel ball factory in actual production, the new billet and the old billet were compared in some aspects for billet shape,processing efficiency,die life,the feasibility for simulation technology of finite element in the forming of steel ball billet cold forging is verified.It is shown that by using the simulated, the die and technology are improved and optimized. necessary foundation for the forming of steel ball billet cold forging production in theory and practice is obtained.
