A number of dust would be produced as a result of friction between the wheel and track when the light rail train is running. The dust absorbed on the surface of electrical equipment at the bottom of the train will lead to electrical failure, so it is necessary to clean-up regularly. Traditionally, the dust is swept by the spray gun in the open air manually, which leads to the environmental pollution and low efficiency, so a specialized dust removing plant is needed to ensure the security and stability of light rail train. The mobile dust removing plant studied and designed in this paper is used for ChongQing light rail line 3.Firstly, the principle plan was analyzed and the general plan was fixed based on function analysis method. Dust removing system: sweeping gas was supplied by the air compressor deployed on the device, and the dust-laden gas produced by sweeping was decontaminated through the filter; mobile platform: running with the track-wheel system, driven by a three-in-one (motor, reducer and brake) electric motor which joined the driving shaft with a hollow shaft, and the speed of driving motor was regulated by the frequency converter; power supply system: providing power with the safty slide wire in the trench. Secondly, the dust removing system and mobile platform was analyzed and designed minutely in this paper.Dust removing system is the core of the mobile dust removing plant. Based on the analysis of movement law of sweeping airflow, air filltration mechanism and movement law of suction airflow, design and calculation of the dust removing system was introduced detailedly in this paper, which contained calculation of the sweeping-gas consumption, analysis and design of the dust collector, design and calculation of the gas-collecting channel,design and calculation of the pipe network,selection and analysis of the blower, configuration of the motor. With analogy design method, the mobile platform was designed based on the principle plan and structure configuration of bridge crane, which contained design of the wheel, selection and installation of the track, analysis and calculation of resistance, calculation and selection of the motor.
