Home Furniture Design Based On The Research Of Shanghai Middle-Class Living Pattern And User's Behavior

Many furniture designers believe that, products can determine and change user behaviors, and also create new lifestyles. Based on personal experiences and feelings, some designers guess the user's mind and then outmatch the user by so called experiences. All these will result in serious disjoint of the design with the real need of user.On current situation of furniture design, the author uses behavior investigation and brings theories of Design Psychology and Environment-Behavior Studies, then analyzes the deeper meaning of furniture design, finally looking for a new point of furniture design.This paper is based on observation, interview and questionnaire, and subjected to the real furniture using status by the middle class in Shanghai. By analyzing the data, the author educes the relations between the design of furniture and the residential behavior of the middle class, and hunts the seated needs of the residential behaviors, finally brings out author's viewpoints on furniture design.The paper aims at linking the furniture design and behavior studies, finding new design ideals and research methods of furniture design, walking out misunderstanding and returning to the origin of People-oriented design.Only after our designers know users, analyzes users, handle their problems, meet their needs, we can design our Chinese furniture.
