A Furniture Design Research Based On Middle Class Lifestyle

With the progress of times and the development of the society, people are constantly delivering new requirements for furniture design. No matter as a cultural carrier or only theuse function in daily life, furniture’s functional design, shape design, material design, colordesign, accessory design will reflect the changes of people’s ways of life. That is because different life needs determine diverse ways of life and a certain way of life is related with the specific life requirement.This paper intends to take the middle class as the objective and extend the research from the in-depth study of the middle class lifestyle so as to grasp the trend and present situation of middle class furniture material and spiritual family consumption demand. Under thisbasis, this thesis is inclined to make a research on the middle class’s life style and furnitureneeds on the base of investigation, research and analysis, then find out the middle class furniture consumption influencing factors, which will make contribution to the middle class lifestyle furniture design orientation, basic elements, the core principles and the major design methods and provide theoretical reference for furniture design.On the theoretical basis, this paper will conduct the research on the typical middle class furniture and design the practical research according to the new furniture’s basic designprogress.The thesis could be classified in to five parts:Firstly, the paper review the previous theoretical studies from home and abroad and point out the relevant theories and the present situation of the theories practice. On this basis, the aims, contents, significance and feasibility analysis of the study are presented.Secondly, Class stratification theory of sociology and lifestyle study theory are applied as the focus, combining with the knowledge of consumer psychology,from a macro scope, the paper makes a detail interpretation on the middle class life style.Thirdly, in this part, furniture design theories are reviewed and a deep discussion willmake on the relationship between life style and furniture design so that the research could look forward to the development trend of the future furniture design. Fourthly, the part is the main part of the study. Referencing the present situation of ourcountry’s furniture design, the paper delivers the middle class lifestyle furniture design orientation, basic elements, the core principles, main design method, and basic furniture design theory model on the middle class lifestyle furniture design theory system.Fifthly, on the analysis of the typical middle class life style and the basic design process of new furniture, the study make the practical design and through the specific design scheme, the study checks the furniture design theory model of middle class life style.
