The 240kA prebaked pot technology is a mature technology that has been proven in many aluminum smelters; however, the aluminium semelter that put into production all used the small scall pre-baked pot technology. The current density is about 0.733A/cm~2. That means increasing current has a great potential. So it has great significance to study method of intensifying current and relative technologies to increase production capability and reduce the consumption.The paper takes the Ganjia 240kA pot ,Azerbanjn,as study object, under the feasibility analysis is available, analyzes and studies the 240kA pot increasing current implement scheme and practicical production situlation, and draws the following conclusions:1,under the present softwar and hardware configuration, the 240kA pot can be increased to 270kA. Consider the increasing current step by step, the current increasing only from 240kA to 255kA.2,the cathode carbon block adopts the high graphite carbon, it is in favor of solving the pot inner thermol problem arising from the increasing current.3,the insulation material adopts the dry impervious material to instead of the fire brick, it is in faver of pot bottom insulation and avoiding the pot breakage, increases the pot life.4,pot side adopts the silicon carbon nitride to instead of common carbon block, it is better for the form for pot ledge and energy balance.5,well solve the relationship between anode quality and anode current density,relationship between anode dimension and operation side,pot thermal and energy balance,reduction process technique donditions are the key to obtain increasing current success . 6,Aluminium reduction management should adopt the "ionics"idea, The pot will appear problems after increasing current and need the period to adjust and improve then the pot can enter into run stably, meanwhile, the precondition for make the pot run successfully and stably is to adopt the adcanced pot control system.
