Crankshaft is the backbone, the most important component and the key moving parts in engines. Under the working conditions, crankshaft bears complicated alternating load, such as constantly changing periodic gas force, reciprocating motion weight inertia force, rotational and centrifugal inertia force, tensile, compression, bending load etc, generates torsion and transverse and vertical vibration therefore. Machining Quality and Machining Efficiency of the crankshaft directly effect the quality of locomotives products and development of locomotive industry. The level of crankshaft′s Machining Quality directly effect performance of engine and the life of locomotive.This paper chooses crankshaft in locomotive as research object, make a structural and force analysis base on function of crankshaft in engines, design crankshaft based on whole data correlation of Pro/E, obtain the basic idea of 3-D solid model design of crankshaft and give the concrete steps of crankshaft′s 3D solid model.Analyze and describe the basic idea and principle of product family, make a crankshaft product family design based on parametric. Based on group technology, found the similarity on structure of this kind of components as crankshaft, based on Pro/E platform, design crankshaft family based on general technology in same family and similar structure and technology, achieve the interaction between design of crankshaft family and Pro/E, obtain the crankshaft multilayered family table.Take a crankshaft for example to analyze the processing technology of crankshaft, introduce the material choice for crankshaft, manufacturing method of blank, heat treatment method and precision requirement, analyze the difficult points of crankshaft processing technology, make the adaptive technological procedure.Application research of NC machining for crankshaft under the Pro/NC five-axis conditions, aiming at difficult points of crankshaft processing technology, mill make processing technology, machine external surface of crankshaft with milling method, discuss key factors such as reference making, trajectory creating, processing parameter determination, etc, edit the program code after milling and get the cutting path and NC processing Simulation.
