Transition metal hydrides are the one type of the most important catalysts and intermediates in series of reactions, including Olefin oligomerization, polymerization, hydrosilylation, hydrocyanation, cabonylation hydrometalition and selective oxidation and reduction. In those reactions, researchers have got aware of the key role which transition metal hydrides play.So much work has been done in this field. In the previous work of our lab, characteristic reactions of cobalt or nickel hydrides have been reported. In these complexes, the hydrogen atom was detected as a ligand with negative charge, and it react easily with 2-nitrophenol and alkynes,by the elimination of hydrogen gas,to give substitution products. If the products are of poor stability, more thermally stable products will be form by the ligand association and coordination. We have chosen some phenol derivates, which can probe the characters of the hydrogen ligand of nickel hydride[Ni(H)(ortho-S-C6H4PPh2)(PMe3)2]. According to the mechanism we have proposed, substitution occurs in the first step. The reaction stops if the product is thermally stable,i.e.all coordination bond length are comparable to each other. If not,the unstable complex reacts with proper ligands that remain in the solution.Organic compound mentioned in this thesis were characterized by IR and NMR,and the organometallic compounds by NMR and X-ray diffraction.
