The accuracy of the strip gauge is one of the quality targets of strip production. With the development of rolling and control theory and its application, it has been improved greatly. But there are still many questions to resolve in practice. This article's based on 1450 mm strip rolling. Automatic gauge control system was studied in this article.Firstly, based on the understanding of the theory of cold continuous rolling sufficiency, analyses the reason of thickness during rolling. Then take corresponding method to achieve the cold continuous rolling automatic gauge control, and explain its function and characteristic.Secondly, this paper analyses static characteristic and dynamic characteristic of the cold continuous rolling from studying the basic equation of continuous rolling theory. The dynamic mold of five stands cold continuous rolling is established, simulated and analyzed. The regulative state is identical with static characteristic, from the result of account of dynamic characteristic.Lastly, Due to slow time-variation and random disturbance, such as the pedestal elasticity will change with pass, the character of the rolling mill will change with the temperature changing and so on, the model will change with this too. It is difficult for the PID control to adapt to the slow time-variation and uncertain. So the paper studied the Neural network PID control methods using simulation method. Simulations of experiment indicate that in some bounds of uncertainty the automatic gauge control can reach a satisfactory control effect.
