Parametric modeling technology adopts a per-defined feature prototype including some engineering semantics as the base of parts modeling. So parametric designing, as an entirely new method of design with efficiency and practicability, is widely applied in industry. It leads the direction of future development. This paper secondary develops Pro/E combining the secondary development of Pro/TOOLKIT with VC++ and develops the standard parts library for mill combining SQL Sever database with VC++ and refer to"heavy machinery standard". Then, it achieves the rapid selection of standard parts of the heavy machine in the Pro/E environment, greatly reducing the workload of the designer.Secondly, it draws a four-roll mill of 1420HCW and creates a set of design parameters that can completely control the three-dimensional model using the method of combining the three-dimensional model with process control. And then set up a mill parametric design system. The system, designing for the user, enables a interactive and parametric design using the technology of MFC. It reduces the mill's design cycle greatly. Finally, it analyses the mill designed with MSC.Marc. It studies the strength and rigidity of the stand and the deformation of the rolls, and thus illustrates the shape control function of HCW mills, providing a theoretical basis for practical production.
