The SO3 acid mist is difficultly removed in the coal fired power plant, which is hazard to the equipment, atmospheric environment and people's health. GGH is used to avoid the corrosion of equipment after WFGD by raising the flue gas temperature. But the cost of GGH is high, and it causes a lot of operational problems.There is not effective study to remove SO3 in the Chinese coal fired power plant. On the basis of foreign researches, a new method of using WESP to remove SO3 acid mist is put forward in this paper. Systematic experiments and theoretical studies had been conducted in this paper. Especially the difference between new flexible and traditional rigid electrode of WESP had been studied. The effects of power source and operational parameter on SO3 acid mist removal efficiency of WESP were studied in this paper. In addition, Pilot test of using WESP and economic analysis of using WESP and canceling GGH had been studied in this paper.Firstly, there is not suitable generating system of simulated SO3 acid mist in the laboratory, so a series of SO3 acid mist generating method had beed studied and SO3 acid mist particle size distribution of three selected methods had been measured. Two methods had been chosen as the generating system of simulated SO3 acid mist. Then the test unit of SO3 acid mist removal using WESP was built.Secondly, the effects of power source parameter, operational parameter and different positive electrodes (two new flexible electrodes of 840A and 728) on SO3 acid mist removal efficiency of WESP were researchd on the SO3 acid mist removal test. Experimental results show that the removal efficiency of acid mist with new flexible electrodes is slightly better than traditional rigid electrode WESP. The effects of residence time, voltage, particle size, inlet concentration and temperature on SO3 acid mist removal efficiency of WESP were studied and analyzed. According to the test result and theoretical analysis of dry ESP, the proportional relationship between the theoretical efficiency of SO3 acid mist removal using WESP and test parameters is concluded.In the end, a pilot test of using WESP in the coal fired power plant is introduced in this paper, and the result of this test was analyzed. According to the pilot test and related articles, technical advantage and economic analysis of using WESP and canceling GGH had been studied and analyzed. The analysis showed that the technology of WESP had a good market prospect and promotional value.The WESP technology can effectively control the emission of SO3 acid mist. So the GGH could be canceled in the coal fired power plant. This will bring economic benefits to the power plant under the premise of environment protection. Therefore, the WESP technology provides a new approach and way of controlling the pollution in the coal fired power plant.
