Crankshaft is a very important component of large marine engine and its key part is crank. Use the upset forging to produce crankshaft will improve the mechanical properties. A study of the 305 marine crankshaft forging process is made in the paper by means of FEM numerical simulation and experimental research.Based on the rigid-plastic FEM theory with large deformation and DEFORM-3D software that is a powerful FEM program, upset forging processes of crank are analyzed through numerical simulation. The article has analyzed the main flaw,the metal flow rule and the deformation distribution which in the crank forming process appears, has presented the main reason of occuring shape defects of deformed crank and determined the flaw appraisal target and the formed quality major effect factor. Different kinds of influencing factors of draught pressure have been overall and systematically lucubrated, by utilizing orthogonal experiment. Simultaneity, blank and die shape patameters are given. In addition, the influence of are studied and the upset forgeing force-haul distance and the bending force-haul distance relation curves are also given. The technology process and its parameters are optimized as well, which can provide the theoretical evdence for prodution test. To already certain of eventually took shape a craft to carry on numerical simulation to match to imitate analysis, to take shape process, semi-finished product and molding tool in eachly take shape a work preface and took shape defects to carry on analysis.
