Polymer blend is an important branch in the field of polymer materials science and engineering. Poly(trimethylene terephthalate)(PTT)and easy cationic dying poly(ethylene terephthalate)(ECDP)blends are new polyester of excellent properties and broad prospects for development.In this paper,the hot transition temperature and thermal stability of ECDP and PTT slice were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)and thermogravimetric analysis(TG).simultaneously, the rheologies properties of PTT/ECDP slice was investigated with capillary rheological test method.ECDP/PTT blends and ECDP/PTT blend fibres were prepared by molten blending method,respectively. Using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and dynamic mechanics analysis (DMA) , the compatibility of ECDP/PTT blends was studied in the crystalline area and amorphous state. The processes of spinning and stretching were studied.Dispersal dyes ( 2BLN)and cationic dyes(X-GL,X-8GL) dyeing properties of ECDP/PTT blend fibers were researched.The morphological structure,the crystallization properties,the orientation properties and boiling water shrinkage properties of the blend fibers were characterized , respectively.The results show ,when the spinning temperature at 245°and the shear rate in the range from 102 to 105S-1, the ECDP/PTT blends have good spinnability.The proper drawing temperature of the blend fibers is between 50℃and 60℃, while the proper stretching temperature is between 140-160℃.The ECDP/PTT blend fibres in atmospheric boiling dye condition have better dispersal dyes and cationic dyes dyeing properties. It is also found that the shrinkage rates of all the blend fibers are below 20%.The research of ECDP and PTT compatibility indicate that the ECDP/PTT blends are miscible in amorphous phase, while phase separated in crystalline phase.The study of blend fibres supramolecular structures show that, with PTT content increased , the orientation degree of blend fibers decrease ,but the crystallinity increase.
