Clad metal is a new type of material which is prepared by advanced composite technology with two different alloys, and its performance is very good. Aluminum alloy 3003 and 4004 are two kinds of widely used alloys.3003 has good corrosion resistance, but low intensity; 4004 has very good strength and toughness, but poor corrosion resistance. If we are able to develop a new type of material which combined by the two kinds of metal that can be used in harsh environment, the prospect will be undoubtedly enormous. With the development in electromagnetic processing and the expander of electromagnetic application, the technology of EMBR (electromagnetic brake) has become mature. In this paper, the EMBR technique is applied in producing the clad material.Through electromagnetic mold, hot top, the middle pack, groove and other related design and the casting technology experiment, our group do lots of research on the relationship between process parameters and quality. The satisfied result is finally obtained by adjusting the experimental apparatus and the technical parameters.The slabs including the ones obtained with EMBR and the ones without EMBR are analyzed. The result shows that both sides of the slab have the same composition and phase when it obtained without electromagnetic field, and they are all Al-Si-Mn alloy. The other result shows that there are different compositions and phase on two sides of the slab obtained by magnetic flux density of 0.15T. Electromagnetic field effectively inhibited the molten metal mixed, and keeps the sides of the slab have different components and different performance.
