As a new technology, electromagnetic processing of materials is applied in studying and manufacturing more and more. A new method, that can be used to cast clad metal materials by means of electromagnetic brake, was proposed. In order to analyze the feasibility and choose reasonable technological parameters, the program is used to simulate the molten metal flow in the mould effected by electromagnetic field. The results show that by imposing static magnetic field, discharge velocity from the nozzle is suppressed, jet length is decreased, back flow zone in the center of the mold is reduced; that control effectiveness is obvious when magnetic flux density is more than 0. 2T; that it is necessary to set dam board of about 20mm-30mm high in the upper port of the mould in order to avoid lateral flow of liquid-level due to applying EMBR.The electromagnetic inductor and continuous casting simulating set are designed. Electromagnetic continuous casting of Sn&Sn+5%Pb and Al+8%Mg&Al+12. 3%Si alloys were conducted. When two kinds of the melt with different chemical composition were simultaneously poured into the mold from two nozzles, flow of the melt in the mold was controlled by imposing the static magnetic field from the outside of the mold, and a clad slab of Sn&Sn+5%Pb was obtained. Macroscopic metallographic structure and element distribution of the slab are analyzed. The results show that the electromagnetic field restrains the flow of the melt effectively and on the different sides of the slab there are different elements, no obvious interface was found in the slab.
