The barrier properties of fruit packaging materials have a significant impact on product protection, product distribution and shelf sales. Therefore, there are strict requirements on the barrier properties of fruits packaging materials. In this paper, the effects of ambient temperature and humidity on O2, CO2 and H2O permeability of aluminum PET and PVDC film are analyzed. To offer guidance on selecting of fresh fruit (Eg:apples, kiwi, etc.) packaging materials. Main functions include:(1) Analyze the penetration mechanism of plastic film from the point of penetration kinetics. Study various factors effects on O2, CO2 and H2O permeability of aluminum PET and PVDC film. For instance:temperature, relative humidity, film type and thickness, and the chemical structure of infiltration molecules. Reveal the permeability laws of plastic film.(2) The main object of study are aluminized PET film (thickness of 18μm), PVDC film (thickness of 40μm,90μm, 11Oμm). The test reference object is PET film (thickness of 12μm, 20μm). Study the effects of different factors on the film barrier properties. The testing programs include:(a) The O2, CO2 and H2O permeability changes for the same kinds of plastic film under the conditions of temperature variation and relative humidity constant, and the effect of temperature changing on the air permeability of polymer film.(b) The O2, CO2 and H2O permeability changes for the same kinds of plastic film under the conditions of relative humidity variation and temperature constant, the effect of relative humidity changing on the air permeability of polymer film. (c) Analysis on the influences of film type and thickness, chemical structure of infiltration molecules and other factors on the O2, CO2 and H2O permeability of plastic film under the conditions of temperature and relative humidity constant.(3) Fitting the air permeability-temperature curve with the MATLAB software. Draw the O2, CO2 and H2O permeability varies with temperature curve of different films and the same air permeability varies with temperature of films with different thickness. Deduce the air permeability calculating formula base on the regression analysis method. Provide a strong basis for the selection of PET, aluminum PET and PVDC film in food packaging.This research has a good academic value on the storage and transportation of the fruits packaging, and provides theoretical and practical instruction for the selecting of fresh fruit packaging materials.
