As the laneway excavation equipment, boom-type roadheader plays an important role in mining. Cutting head, an important part of roadheader, consumes most of the machine power in the process of coal-rock cutting. With the complicated structure, cutting head has many correlated and interacted assembly parameters, which have an influence on the cutting performance of the whole machine directly. This item is entrusted by an enterprise. When the EBZ-135 roadheader that involved in this paper works, the loads on each picks of the cutting head are quite different, which cause the whole vibration of cutting head seriously and the uneven service life of every picks, so it is inconvenient to make repairs and supply replacements. Accordingly, the structure improvement for cutting head of this roadheader is the main research content. In this research, based on the EBZ-135 roadheader, the author set up the three-dimensional model of cutting head and coal wall in UG3.0, and imported the model into explicit dynamic analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA10.0 to establish the numerical simulation model of the cutting head in cutting coal rocks. The two operating conditions of the cutting head in crosscutting and drilling coal rocks are simulated on computer, then, the external forces on cutting head and picks are obtained. After the statistic, analysis and comparison of working forces on picks, the spacing of cut lines between picks are adjusted through changing their distance in axial direction. By means of several adjustments of cutting line spacing and simulation of cutting process, the load differences on picks and force wave on cutting head are reduced. The subject of this research achieved the purpose of reducing the pick load differences and cutting head vibration.
