With the exploitation of oil fields, demand for liquid storage tanks in the petroleum, chemical and other industries is gradually increasing, as well as the needs of energy reserves. And the liquid storage tanks are continuously developing towards large-scale. The liquid storage tanks are usually used to storage flammable, explosive or toxic medium. Once destroyed, it would not only bring huge economic losses, but also disastrous effects on people's life. There are many factors that would cause destroy of the liquid storage tanks, and earthquake is the primary reason that bring about the same result. Therefore, More and more attention are paid to the seismic isolation of liquid storage tanks. The most widely solution used to the isolation is Base Isolation. In this paper,20000m3 liquid storage tank is modeling by using the finite element analysis (FEA) program ANSYS, and analysis of the tank responded to seismic is calculated. The main research and achievement are given as follows:1. Considering the effect of the empty, full tank, and liquid model, the result are obtained from the model analysis of the liquid storage tank without isolation.2. Responded to seismic under either anchored or unanchored situations, the value of the maximal stress, the maximal lift distance could be calculated in respective situations of the liquid storage tank.3. Considering of the influence of isolation frequency, damping ratio, the isolation liquid storage tank responded to seismic under either anchored or unanchored situations is calculated. Additionally, the isolated effect is estimated with the maximal stress to ensure the optimal isolation frequency and damping ratio.4. Influence of soil flexibility on seismic response of liquid storage tank is initially analyzed.
