As the socio-economic development, liquid-storage tank are used in oil fields moreand more widely. The damage of vertical liquid-storage tank will not only result inpetroleum and chemical industry enterprises’ direct loss, but also cause a greater and moreserious secondary disaster, so the tank seismic get many scholars’ attention. The verticalsteel anchor tank is mainly based on the one-dimensional simplified spring mass model ofHaroun-Housner to study linear seismic response for many scholars, which has twodefects. On one hand, the simplified model is too simple to be truly show tank localdynamic response; On the other hand, this model can evaluate the seismic performance ofthe tank only from the aspect of structural linear overall response, which hasn’t taken intoaccount the factors such as geometric and material nonlinear effects, variable thickness ofthe tank wall and etc. It has not a simple and effective model to simulate the real seismicresponse considering the factors such as fluid-solid coupling, geometric large deformation, the liquid greatly shaking, material nonlinear and state nonlinear and so on for the verticalsteel unanchored tank. The nonlinear finite element model considering fluid-solidcoupling, geometric large deformation, the liquid greatly shaking, material nonlinear andstate nonlinear and variable thickness of the tank wall was built with the help of thelarge-scale finite element software ANSYS in this paper. The research mainly includes thefollowing parts:1. It systematically explored the effects of the isolation parameters on the seismicresponse of the different ratio of height to diameter isolation tank in Ⅲ site with theseismic fortification intensity of9degree.2. It systematically explored the effect of the isolation parameters on the seismicresponse of the1000m3isolation tank under different liquid storage in Ⅲ site with theseismic fortification intensity of9degree.3. According to the front laws, it selected the optimum isolation parameters and madea seismic damage analysis and comparison of the1000m3vertical steel anchor tank of isolation before and after in Ⅲ site with the seismic fortification intensity of9degree.4. The nonlinear finite element model considering the fluid sloshing and the uplift oftank bottom was built with the help of the large-scale finite element software ANSYS forclassic Clough vertical steel unanchored tank (the Clough short tank), and it explored theuplift mechanism and elephant foot bulging of elevated liquid-storage tank underhorizontal seismic ground motion and analyzed the seismic response effect of the verticaltank used base isolation technology.
