Semiconductor nanoparticles possess many unique optical properties, high surface-to-volume ratio and other properties related to their nanometer dimension.Their optical properties can be easily tailored not only by changing the particle size, but also by suitable ions doping, structure fabrication and surface modification. Especially, the nanoparticles with a lot of Zn2+ on the surface can easily interact with the functional molecules with coordinated effect to form novel functionalized composites or assembly materials. These nanomaterials have large potential applications in the fields of biology, electronic and optoelectronic devices as well as photovoltaic cells. In this thesis, we have prepared two nanohybrid materials by the composite and self-assembly of 2-mercaptoethanol-capped ZnS nanoparticles with 8-hydroxyquinoline functionalized polymer and silica microsphere, respectively. These nanohybrids exhibited good fluorescence properties. ZnS nanoparticles/8-hydroxyquinoline functionalized polymer hybrid films had good stability, transparency and thermal stability, and displayed high ?uorescence emission at 500 nm. It can be potentially used to fabricate multifunctional devices with novel photoelectric properties. ZnS NPs/8-hydroxyquinoline functionalized SiO2 fluorescent hybrid microspheres displayed a blue fluorescence emission at 460nm. It can be potentially used in biological and optical fields.
