A new optical information storage material can be gotten by adding Mn2+ into ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass film. It has stable performance and can easily be processed. Moreover, it will be widely spreaded in information storage field because of its obvious advantages in storage density and literacy rate. At present it is a hotspot in electro-optical information storage material field.Zn(NO3)2·6H2O, C8H20O4Si and H3BO3 were taken as the stromata in the study, and a ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass film which could be used for optical storage was prepared by sol-gel method through adding photoactive metal Mn2+. Factors like activating ions and different stromata compsitions which may affect the optical storage performance of this ZBSM glass film were also studied.The preparation process of optical storage ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass film was as follows: the stromata compsition and the amount of Mn2+ added should be:Zn(NO3)2·6H2O:H3BO3: C8H20O4Si: Mn(CH3COO)2·4H2O(mole ratio)=6:2:2:0.1; pH=1.0 for hydration; keep it in the 60℃water bath 24h; keep it in the 60℃drying oven for 19h; take dipping and drawing method for coating, maximum 5 times for different film thickness; the final heat treatment temperature of the sample was around 650℃.The properties of the optical storage ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass film can be studied through fluorescence spectrum and thermo-luminescence spectrum: the fluorescence and the afterglow all originate from the 4T1(4G)→6A1g(6S) btransition of Mn2+; There were two trap centers whose energy level were accordingly 0.80eV and 1.02eV. The electron could easily be stored in the 1.02eV trap center.The preparation of ZBSM glass ceramics and its structure and properties were researched, then the results were took to make a comparison on optical excitation and other properties with the optical storage ZBSM glass film which was of the same system.
